Why it matters

A joint fails long before anyone sees it fail

Most electrofusion failures are decided in the minutes before the current is switched on. Scraping depth, contamination, alignment. None of it shows on the weld indicator, and none of it shows on the day.

WIS 4-32-08 requires installers to operate a quality assurance system, to keep personnel trained and competent, and to hold records of the joints they make. Competence is not a certificate on a wall. It is what an auditor asks to see when something has gone wrong.

We have built fusion equipment in West Yorkshire since 1992. The people who run these sessions are the people who design, build and service the machines.

The programme

Pick the theme.
We confirm the date.

Our next course runs at our Dewsbury centre in the week of 6 October. We take a maximum of six delegates per trainer, so that every joint made on the course is observed.

Rather than publish a fixed timetable, we build each session around the people booked onto it. Tell us the theme and the month that suits you, and we come back to you with a date.

Every theme can also be taken online: live sessions with the same trainers, covering the theory, the procedures and the records. The practical assessment for the certificate is always done in person, in Dewsbury or on your site.

Electrofusion jointing

Preparation, scraping, contamination control, clamping and the fusion cycle end to end.

Prevents cold joints and contamination failures

Butt fusion

Machine set-up, facing, alignment, heat soak, cooling and bead inspection.

Prevents misalignment and bead defects

Pipe preparation

The scraping and alignment work that decides most joints before anything is switched on.

Prevents the three commonest causes of failure

Squeeze-off and flow stopping

Safe practice on live mains, tool selection, re-rounding and pipe recovery.

Prevents pipe damage and unsafe practice

Machine operation and service

Getting more from the equipment you already own: operation, care, calibration and fault finding.

Prevents downtime and avoidable service calls

Records and traceability

What WIS 4-32-08 expects of your records, and what an auditor actually asks to see.

Prevents an audit you cannot answer
